Since beginning my Practice years ago and still today I always get the same questions about Hypnosis, What is Hypnosis? How does it work? and What is it used for? along with another 150 other questions. I decided that it might be fun to create a blog to answer many of the questions that I get to answer every day so that not only the people I talk to in person but anyone who might want to know around the internet can learn too. Hypnosis is a very powerful technique that helps people in many aspects of life. It could be mental, emotional, physical and even spiritual. So as this blog progresses, feel free to comment, ask questions and share your input and experiences if you have them. Always remember to be kind, respect each other and be friends. I will write in straight forward, simple language and try to share to the best of my ability. Look, I know we are all busy these days and really just want a quick answer to a simple question. If the answer intrigues you, I encourage you to do deeper research to satisfy any lingering curiosity. Can you say "Okay Google, Tell me more about..." I hope the info is useful to you. If you ever have questions you'd like to ask me directly, feel free to fill out the contact us form or just email me at [email protected] And remember...Hypnosis Works! #hypnosisworks Instagram and Twitter - @ronlakehypnosis So.......What is Hypnosis? As long as I have been practicing, it still surprises me how many people have either never heard of hypnosis or have heard of it but really don't know what is and how affective it can be to make positive change in their lives.
Many people who do know something about hypnosis, recall a Stage show they attended in High School or College, where the Stage Hypnotist made people do silly things in front of a crowd as in barking like a dog or clucking like a chicken. I don't think any Stage Hypnotists do this anymore but the stigma still exists. Those shows are fun and quite entertaining. Yet I think all too often, they create a fear in the skeptical person about hypnosis' ability to solve real world problems and can alienate a certain part of the population from seeking out the help they could actually get from hypnosis. So one of the first questions I get from people when they find out what I do and are Oh So Impressed.....lol Is what is Hypnosis? And of course I immediately recite the dictionary definition leaving them stunned, amazed and in awe of my knowledge. hyp·no·sis hipˈnōsəs/ noun noun: hypnosis
Okay...no I don't leave them in awe nor would I ever recite a dictionary definition like this....lol Basically; It is a trance state characterized by deep relaxation, heighten focus on a single subject and a extreme suggestibility. In this mental state it is also easy for the imagination to be more active as well. The word "Hypno" meaning sleep refers only to the sleep -like state the subject is in. At no time is the subject actually asleep. While the subject may be so relaxed they choose not o open their eyes or move their body they are still very much awake and alert the while session. I often tell those who don't know that the feeling is much like a day dream, where you are aware of everything around you but you are so focused on your thought that everything else seems to move to the background. Think of the last time you were engrossed in a great book or an exciting movie. Hypnosis is a very natural phenomena. Everyone goes into hypnosis at least twice a day. Once just before you go to sleep and once just before you are fully awake in the morning. Studies have shown that the average person actually goes into some form of hypnosis or trance at least 7-8 a day. Think back to that movie or book or remember that time you go into you care to go somewhere and suddenly realizing you were there but don't' recall the trip at all. We call that "Highway Hypnosis"
